As the inquiry has progressed and criminal investigations continue, the focus has increasingly turned to a deeper question: How should we remember Grenfell? What is the legacy of the fire, and what have we truly learnt?

The Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission
Following the tragic events, the Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission was established to develop a truly community-led vision for a fitting memorial, one that commemorates those who lost their lives and those whose lives were forever changed. The Commission began its work in September 2019.
They worked closely with the Grenfell community, bereaved families, survivors, Lancaster West Estate residents, and the wider neighbourhood who lived in close proximity to the tower, to understand their hopes and wishes for a future memorial. The result was a set of recommendations published in their 2023 report, Remembering Grenfell.
